Hello DGC
A thought came to me about curing; Has anyone ever cured/dried after chop in a scented environment? The thought came to me how some alcohol is made in different typed of barrels depending on the end product. If you are growing grape terps as an example would it be a broscience idea to have a small enclosure made out of a wine barrel or whatever fragrance you are looking for? I was thinking of a project to make a small curing box out of cedar wood and dry plants in it -then thought hmm wine or bourbon barrels.
Do your own thing, but ewwwww. Best to find a strain that gives you the terp profile you seek – not try to re-engineer a poor tasting strain. Your idea reminds me of when dealers used to put orange rinds in the bud and claim it was an orange strain.
I saw an ire Jeff podcast where he talks about terps and he said if you dry in a basement expect basement smells and flavors to get into the bud and if you do it in a scented environment like near a laundry room expect those flavors and smells. I haven’t been doing this long enough to know sheeeiiiittt about it but it makes sense. Im just trying for any terps and hopefully not that lovely fresh cut grass glavor we all know and love.
I have a room lined and framed in rough cedar. Helps with the process but has no affect on terps due to the smell of the cedar. It’s the environment that influences it from my experience. Too high of humidity stinky funk, too low / dry you get the hay smell. From my experience the cedar room helps me maintain my rh better.
One thing you have to think of when choosing the wood type/ barrel type. Does the wood mold easy? How’s it hold or react to moisture or certain temp ranges.
I think someone should play around with a maple or HONEY terpene……at some point someone will find AGED WHISKEY.
What is that Humboldt seeds strain I actually need to grab…..Old growth…..like Cedar. That’s freaking brilliant……MORE TREE AND HARDWOOD TERPENES PLEEEEEEEEASE. I don’t care about extracts let’s make trees smell like trees!

What about growing in the barrel. Maybe the roots will absorb something from the wood.
Also, the charred barrel would kinda be like a bio-char cocoon. 🤔
