I’ve been using city water for my plants and it definitely contains chlorine and chloramines. This water sucks for organic growing. So I was in the pet store and noticed a product called Amquell plus to detoxify water for fish tanks… it supposedly removes chlorine and chloramphenicol. So I was thinking is it safe to use this to detox the water I’m using to feed my plants. I did a ph test and it did not affect the water that way. Just hoping this works or next step is RO filter..
Thanks dudes…
Why not just use a activated charcoal filter like a Brita or the ones that filter water for icemakers? I like the big generic icemaker filters because you can plumb them to any kind of line you like, garden hose, whatever. Removes over 90% of bad stuff (lead too), leaves the calcium.
ON ONE OF THE RECENT DGC PODCASTS THEY TALKED ABOUT A POST THAT STATED USING VITAMIN C REMOVES CHLORINE AND CHLORAMINES. I BELIEVE GURU REFERENCED A WEBPAGE THAT SHOWS YOU THE AMOUNT YOU NEED TO USE AND HOW LONG THE REACTION TAKES.
Becareful using that stuff, it can fall out of solution fast, fk up your ph and all kinds of cool stuff. Not recommended for consumables is what the company says. Just crush up some vitamin c, much safer
Shiiiiiiit, I grow no-till in my basement and I literally water with my garden hose. Ph out of the tap is usually 8+ and 200-400 ppm. The plants look great.
