I take a break from growing during the summer months. Instead of being bummed next summer I went ahead and bought a TC kit. It eliminates the need for keeping mothers around. The lowers that I’d normally cut and throw away now have value. Being able to store a bunch of explants in a small space is blinding me with Science.
Never heard of this..can you detail what the science is?
I don’t know how to describe tissue culture other than growing tissue in a test tube.
I’ve always wanted to try doing this, may I ask you where you got your information from and if there are any good books on the subject. I’m really glad to see someone here on the site that’s into culture growing. From what I understand it’s an advanced technique which is what interests me. The cultures you show seem to be nice and healthy. Nice job, and good luck going forward.
I saw some people growing in test tubes on Instagram and it looked interesting. It wasn’t something I thought I could do until watching a few videos. I bought a kit and followed the steps. Their aren’t many videos or books about cannabis tc. Like most things cannabis related, the only way to learn is to jump right in and experiment.
Mind posting the specs on materials needed? What size tubes did you go with. Gotta try this now thank you!
From the description,
Starter Kit contains: Microclone liquid establishment media in sterilized bottle
Tubes in rack
Scalpel and forceps
Plastic washing jar
Chlorine sanitizing tablets
Sealing tape
Sterile paper towel

How long can you store them in this manner? It is pretty easy to take a cut and just keep in small if you want. What are the benefits of doing it this way opposed to taking a normal cut? It really is a neat thing to be doing and its very interesting, I
Storing these until they grow new shoots and grow upwards. Then I’ll root in an aero cloner. The benefit is having clean, disease free clones for generations. To your point of keeping cuts small, I do that already. Space is at a premium in my tent. Growing in tubes allows me to grow maintenance free in minimal space during the summer. I think that’s what interested me the most. Even with a portable AC, growing in a hot garage is a nightmare. It’s not worth the stress. Their were no alternatives (for me) to keeping genetics around other than in vitro.
