So this is my first grow. I found the podcast in January of this year and got hooked! I was however not prepared for aphids and caterpillars this grow and I want to know specifically what would help during the last month of flowering outdoors? Thanks DGC, love you guys!!! p.s. I’m growing mostly Humboldt Seed Company with half of them grown with floraflex and half organic.
Welcome to the DGC! I had some decent results using Dr. Zymes this last 6 weeks as well as a couple of servings of Optic Foliar ATAK( I add a 1/2 tsp of Armor Si to the R.O.water before adding the Transport and ATAK). There aren’t many things that can be used late in flower as far as sprays go. Just keep doing your research and I’m sure you’ll be successful.
Peace!
I have looked for damage extensively with dr zymesZ . I have not found damage at the 1 1/2 oz rate. Beneficial insects are really the best at this stage. Just use it as a learning experience. You’ve got to be close to done? Watch for bud rot I guess the most. If you got an air compressor blast them off. If you’re in the desert take the opportunity to wash your plants with high pressure. Not a pressure washer… Beneficial insects. And learn. Insects are one thing you can never wait on. It’s always 911! The second you pull your head out of denial and see something it is all hands on deck. Turn off the phone. Everyone else is making dinner and deal with it the least damaging way you can. Elbow grease for greasy budsss
Oh but hey that shit looks awesome! Good job! If this is what happens when you drop the ball with bugs than I dare say you must be extraordinary when changing a few things? I guess we’ll see
I highly recommend adding BT into your regimen for the caterpillars and worms. It saved my ass this year and is safe to spray on flower up until a few days before harvest based on research I’ve seen. Definitely heard alot of good from Dr zymes as well for bugs, but have not tried.
Not sure about the caterpillars but the aphids are feeding on nitrogen that the plant isn’t able to turn into protein. Possibly the nutrient ratio is too nitrogen heavy for this late in flower, or just a little heavy on the nutrients in general with the end in sight. Usually week 5 of flower for 8 week strain is your last high feed, then just slowly tapering off to just plain water.
