Anyone out there using Auto Pots? If so, what has your experience been? Any tips? Is there anything similar that would be more productive?

I have not used autopots, I use blumats which are awesome if you’re looking for an automatic watering system
I have been growing with Auto pots for about two years, to be honest a little hit and miss but this is what I figured out. I start my seeds in a little k-cup size and after around ten days transfer the to one gallon containers. I keep them in one gallon containers for about 5 weeks then transplant them into the auto pots, the plants have to be a decent size in order to keep up with the amount the system feeds it. soak them when transplanting and let them dry out (around 10 days before you turn on the system. They bottom feed through a small tube so you cannot use any organics, I use the Capt’s formula found on this site. Once you start the system the manufacturer recommends that you do not top feed, but I usually throw some recharge on them once a week. Not sure whats is available in your area but I start with a seedling starter, then go to Happy Frog in the one gallon pots and switch over to Ocean Forest in the Auto Pots with pretty good success. If you just put seedlings or very small plants it will get too much water and they will be unhappy. I also put in a small pump into the reservoir to keep everything stirred up.

Thanks guys. Good info SilverBlu. Appreciate all.
Hey, I’ve been using the Auto pots for a couple of years too, if you care for my input?!
I usually go from clone, usually about four inches tall and put them straight in to coco/pebbles in the 15ltr autopots. I water them in and leave them for a week before I start using the autopot system. If I go from seed, I put the seed in a tall thin pots that the roots reach to the bottom of the autopilot straight away after transplanting.
I found the autopilots really liberating and they took away the worry of whether the plant was getting as much to drink as it wanted.
I recently found a range of organic food designed to work with Autopots, called BIOTABS. You put the tabs in the coco or soil and top dress the pot in weeks one and five. You then feed fresh water only with the autopots. It’s a simple as that, no pH or EC or anything.
I’m going to be giving it a try http://www.biotabs.nl
I also put a small pump in the reservoir, along with an airstone.
Let us know how you get on
