Hey DGC, Wanting to know if there is a difference in biochar and horticultural charcoal, as my local area only has the latter available. So would like to know anyone’s opinion or advice on if there’s any great difference in the 2 products as I’m looking to recycle previous used growing medium of coco and perlite, screen it and create a new grow medium for next grow and add 10% biochar/horticultural charcoal and 10% worm casting. As I’d like to take baby steps away from the simple coco/perlite mix to see what sort of results I can achieve with slight additions to the growing medium. Appreciate any input or thoughts, and thanks in advance for taking time out to answer. Seems like it’s very similar if not the same product. Just going with a more commonly accepted/known term charcoal. Regular charcoal contains some unburned components that are not beneficial for plants but this seems to be free of those components. Lots of positive reviews for horticultural charcoal. Be sure to charge it with a nitrogen and calcium nutrient solution and compost or microbe product to supercharge it. Otherwise will rob nutrients from the soil at first.
Sweet, thanks for taking the time out to reply.
