Hey DGC thanks for being a welcoming, trustworthy and reliable community based source for growing cannabis. I have fungus gnats, I started four seeds three are dead after about two weeks of growth. My first thought was my new led lights were to close (I didn’t see anything flying until 1 week). I think they came from the soil from the hydro store. I can’t get hydrogen peroxide any where because the stores are all sold out due to COVID. I took my general hydroponics Exile and used a spray bottle to saturate the soil in the hopes that will kill the larvae eating my baby’s roots. Since I think I have my soil under control I noticed the flying gnats in the humidifier. I decided to pour some bleach into the humidifier reservoir to kill the gnats and any mold growth. I only added a 30:1 solution and quickly I noticed my whole house smelling like bleach! My question is, will the bleach vapor from the humidifier have adverse effects on my next grow? I expect the rest of the soil (that is still in the bag) to have larvae in it so I will treat it before I put it in the tent. Also, to the Dude; don’t give up on your auto outdoor grow next year. This was my first time growing outside and ran into many problems with pests including the corn ear worm caterpillars. I was pulling those things off twice a day but they only went after the biggest buds grew in August. I had to harvest early and got very little bud from the damage and mold growth. I’m going to try and avoid the caterpillars this year by starting my seeds a month later so the buds won’t be as desirable when the caterpillars are at their peak. I am a new grower on my fourth grow but I’ve already learned the most valuable lesson is perseverance.
