What’s up DGC i’v got a question about bud washing, is it worth it to do? My outdoor plants can get pretty dirty from everything in the air but it looks like it would be a invitation for mold. Has anyone tried this before?

If I’m putting bud in water it’s to make hash. Feel free to wash them trichomes and water soluble terpenes off.
Thanks, this makes my decision not to easier.
I see what jmystro is saying but there is some tested research that states it removes enough contaminant/dirt to increase the total cannabinoid percent, due to the decrease in total weight but not an equivalent decrease in cannabinoids. Rain can wash things off outside. Room temp and humidity along with airflow will contribute to mold. Just depends how necessary it is to wash the contaminant off.
I’v seen it done on YouTube and they get some pretty dirty water afterwards. Thanks man
I’ve done it a couple times using lemon juice & baking soda and hydrogen peroxide without issue. It didn’t break off an appreciable number of trichomes and the buds that were washed had just as much stank as the non-washed but the smoke was a little smoother. I probably won’t do it again unless something calls for it. It’s more of a dunk than a wash
Did it extend your drying time? I’m worried about mold since I already battle bud rot every year outdoors. Thanks for the reply
As Grhode Island said, I’ve done it a few times, no issues, same recipe. It does extend the dry time a day or two, and I didn’t notice any significant loss of trichomes or Terps. Even did a small side by side. Definitely noticed dirt, dust, bugs, and hair in the water afterwards. But for whatever reason, I just hang and dry the old school way now, less work for sure. And I’m ok with a little dirt and bugs in my blunt
I have not tried first hand but I have heard and read that Dr. Zymes dilution will kill mold with a quick dunk before the drying process. Its worth a try if its in your arsenal.
its a natural enzyme product that has multiple purposes
