Good day fellas๐ hope all is well.
I’d love to hear what you guys think of the relation between how fast your medium dries and burnt tips. I’ve been told recently by a grower we all respect that this is a cause for burnt tips that a lot of us dont know about, myself included. The more I think about it the more it makes sense. If you think of the way things dry out, They will usually pull the moisture from the outside edge or thinnest part and work towards the center or thickest area. I don’t see why out plants wouldn’t do the same.
Anyways, would love to Guru’s opinion on this. Cheers ๐๐ฅด
Ps pics are my of my 4×4 on day 33 of flower
Just going off of what I’ve seen from most growers here and everywhere else, most are not letting their medias go dry at all if ever. I’m SoCal and I tend to keep the same hydration practices and let em go pretty dry and only watering once a week in the middle of stretch is not uncommon for myself. That said I believe most DGC are watering/feeding at least 2-3 maybe even 4 times a week depending on their location and many if not most show burnt tips. And my plant usually don’t begin to show burnt tips until I’m pushing them 1/3 of the way into flower or if I had to do some heavier corrective feedings. I’m interested in learning more though, if the hypothesis is true I’m sure were not getting the most out of the plants that we could otherwise.
I water twice a week, pots are pretty light by that time though. Thanks for the reply ๐
There has gotta be a formula in correlation to the ppm, temperature, humidity and lighting. All that factors how fast the plant can drink………
I’d like to know more. I have noticed a burn coming on and over watered plain water to flush. It works pretty decent in a coco media.
I started watering about a half day earlier recently see if it makes a difference at all. I water twice a week. Now instead of watering on the morning of day 3, I’m doing the end of the day on day 2. Usually on the start of day two they still have enough weight to them that I wouldn’t water. Idk I like to experiment. Cheers ๐
Not sure if this applies to your situation, but Jeremy from BAS in the episode below at about 8 minutes in explains how a dry period when pots are slightly root bound can cause a little leaf tip burn, even when things are going well and ecerything looks healthy.

Increase your watering frequency. I water 5 times a day to avoid that. If I water just 4 times, my runoff EC soars and they burn. Its actually salt burn drying them out from your media being too salty. Check runoff EC and if it’s double, you should flush with water and add an extra watering to your daily schedule. Coco is notorious for this so i assume your using that. If your in soil you may be just feeding them a little too much and the salt is pulling moisture out.
Thanks for the great reply guys, appreciate that ๐. And the respected grower I didn’t name is Remo.
