Hey hey DGC. I noticed these excreting sap from the stalk about a month after they were chopped. It’s really sweet and sticky. Instantly I think of tapping large cannabis plants and making syrup. We can dream. Anyway, thought I’d share this and see if anyone else has seen this. This is from a pack of seeds (Shelby from DGC) sent me for doing the timestamp work for your shows. Your welcome. Raw Genetics Caramel apple crisp.
Is this sap similar to root exudates or is it completely different since it’s excreted from the stem?
Guttation is the exudation of xylem sap caused by closed stomata. The plant has a plumbing release valve for exudates when the system water pressure is too high early morning.
All this happens when there’s no leaves? It’s just a stump that’s a month old. It’s the only plant I’ve ever had that did that. It’s in the compost bin now.
I have a maui true blood variety that is supposed to bleed red.
