Colas Posted by JohnnyBuds | Nov 28, 2020 | Grower Questions | 9 | These are 8 weeks old from seed. The larger class have farther spacing than the others. Will they come together to form these huge colas????
Chad.Westport on November 28, 2020 at 12:33 pm They definitely still have some time to grow, so they may form into more of a continuous cola, but thats not always a given. There are factors such as feed and light intensity that play their part too. Keep in mind that when the buds dry, they will lose some size compared to how it looked on the day you took the plant down. Genetics play a role, but I also see short auto flowers with chunky colas often. Log in to Reply
Coach Steve on November 28, 2020 at 7:17 pm We call it stacking. Tight internodal spacing will stack into a monster cola the kids love to bost about. More space between nodes means the buds won’t stack together and look like one huge dong. If you want to show off donkey dongs to your friends online, grow more indica strains, it’ll be more likely to stack. Log in to Reply
Mr.eastcoastgrow on November 29, 2020 at 12:04 pm Your still a long ways out. Your very early in flower. When your buds are done you won’t see any real white pistils. Right now your building the base for flowers. Log in to Reply
SunnyinBectopia on November 29, 2020 at 9:36 pm Don’t worry chicken dick, I’m sure donkey Dicks are in your future. Hopefully you will grow them yourself. Size doesn’t matter for quality. Usually the best buds are the ones that don’t stack really tight. That’s why those strains always seem more expensive LOL Log in to Reply

thewolf on November 30, 2020 at 8:05 pm For large colas / buds and minimize larf / popcorn buds: feed b vitamins the day before, make sure the plant is healthy and happy and then clean each limb to the 3rd node around the time you flip to flower, clip off the weak, bottom branches that are a ways away from the canopy that won’t receive much light. Don’t take more then a third of the plant mass off at any single time. It’s called lollipopping, the theory behind it is the plant only has so much energy to go round, by stripping the branches up to the 2nd or 3rd node and by cleaning out the lower third of the plant, you are directing where you want the plant to focus its energy. It actually improves yield but also improves airflow, light penetration, humidity fluctuations, pests, etc..it’s very beneficial to do and then in week 3 after the flip a heavy defoliation..main lining which is a form of LST is great as well it depends on your method of grow.
