I know the standard drying parameters are 55 to 60 rh and 65 degrees, but I have to dry in either 50 degree garage or 68 degree house. I also need to add that these are pretty large dense buds, and I have a humidity controlled exhaust fan on my drying container so I can dial in the exact humidity I want. So am I better off to dry in the colder temps with lower rh or in the house with higher rh?

Honestly, either way is a good answer.
The overall goal is for a nice even and slow dry, anything from 10-14 days is the accepted average. Conditions permitting, I’ll go up to 30 days. But if one of these two ways results in a crop that dries either too fast locking in chlorophyl or too slow and mold becomes an issue, choose the other option.
Humidity would be the main concern, but you say that you can dial it in.
That makes me say 50 degrees, my only concern would be it staying too wet for too long. But with proper humidity control and air movement, you should be fine.
But then my other shoulder says that the air in the garage could be dirtier and lead to minor contaminants… see how much I’m splitting hairs here? Basically another sign that either way will be OK 🙂
I sit at 55 when I can. My humidity will be around that too, I’m always poking and checking. I preferred the idea of cooler. I live in the desert though soooooo, I just don’t have some of the worry others may.
