Untopped seedlings in veg can increase the number of blades on new growth to a pretty high number. New nodes that produce side branching typically start at 5 blades and increase until topped. It’s genetic. Not many veg a branch long enough before topping it to see this increase. During flower the number of blades on new growth decreases.
