Hey guys love the show! I just purchased online two Meijiu 240W QB288 V2 quantum board Samsung lm301b led grow light with 660nm each to cover my 5×4 grow tent. In order for the emerson effect to occur and there be an increased rate of photosynthesis the chloroplasts have to be exposed to a light of wavelength 680 nm and more. By me purchasing that second light does that increase the amount of nm that the chloroplast are being exposed to therefore will allow my future plants to undergo the emerson effect?
Also I’ve been looking into a flower initiator off of the rapid LED site (shout out/growmau5). I have a 5×4 grow tent as I mentioned and was looking to purchase 2 pucks to put in my tent. To my understanding by turning this on for 15 mins after a photoperiod I am sending a signal to my plants to go to sleep immediately thus allowing me to change my light cycle to 13/11 and flower them quicker.
I was wondering the same thing with a cheap blue-erish Chinese cob(sunnycrx) mixed with a 3k qb would do. I also have that fussioning unit and I’m about %100 the diodes are reject diodes but seems a lot, and I mean a lot brighter than my hlg100 also not sure of the efficiency I’m the 120h meanwell. Correct me if im wrong on the wattage. I’m just coming back to this stuff and only tinker after work so having people like everyone from the DGC on your team, it makes the world of difference when it comes understanding leds. Yes you can get them to sleep faster with the far red, also leaving it on with the additional 660nm red should induce the emerson effect. A certain ratio of red to far red causes the plant to cycle back and forth to achieve rapid growth.
After lights off the solo far red puck will induce flowering by increasing the dark time by up to an hour and half. You can use this to run more light hours, but you should be able to achieve dli in 12 hours anyway.
The real benefit will be allowing the plant to show true expressions while maintaining the 12 hour light cycle. Noted by breeders DJ Short and Bodhi to name a couple. Others would have to switch lights to 11 on 13off for similar effects. They risk clipping their dli or light burn, that’s if the canopy size can take the drop in ppfd at the edges when lowering the fixture. Also now when you run at 11/13off you achieve even more of a full expression without suffering as much hit on dli as a 10/14off late in flower mostly for sativa and equitorial strains (trying to mimic the outdoor 12/12) takes 2 hours normally for indoor plants without far red bedtime waves.
