I’ve got this 40 Thieves cut that I bred (Ricks Pupil x Icy Hot) I noticed a sappy substance while i was trimming. I’ve seen this happen on a couple other plants at one time or another. Simply looking for an in depth explanation on what exactly is going on.

Early morning when stomata are closed and transpiration is low, guttation can happen if moisture levels in the rhizosphere are high during this time. Excess moisture can build up in the plant because of osmotic pressure with no way to leave causing high root pressure. Plants have a type of plumbing system to move water, minerals and sugars up and down the plant through two tube like systems, the xylem and phloem. This sap is the result of back pressure in the tubes basically and exude water, minerals, sugars, etc. through special pores called hydathodes.
