What’s up dudes, been curing my latest harvest for 3 weeks now and I’m starting to notice a pattern of not growing enough to have smoke through my next grow. So I’m pulling out some big boys, I have 5 NYC Haze fem seeds that I’m going to pop soon in my 4×4 and I was wondering: Assuming I have the appropriate light power, genetics, and environment; how much could I possibly yield off 5 plants if I were to be ticking all the boxes? Coul I hit the 2lb mark? I’m very comfortable growing 4 plants at a time, and I feel 5 is my limit. So ultimately I want to know if I can achieve at least 2 lbs without a higher plant count. Thanks and much love.
How much can 5 plants in a 4×4 yield?

Strain dependent
An ounce per gallon of media is a starting goal but over time you will do better easily and I bet you can easily exceed that. If the environment is dialed meaning VPD is on point, I think it easy to more than double that by following the plants cues read through the leaves. Also scrogging will increase yield too.
There’s a few variables to consider like strain, grow style etc. We typically average 2.5 lbs in our 4×4 with 4 plants. Sometimes less is more. You may yield more by growing 4 instead of 5. In small spaces they share light and the environment. 1 more plant will be that much more using up these resources. I have had the same 2.5 lbs yield from 2 plants in the same set up. It’s in my past posts. My first grow was about 1.5 as I was learning the tent game. Strain will matter too. 2 lbs is a typical average for a 4×4 and shouldn’t be too hard to nail. Theres only so much space in a tent and if it’s a full canopy, it’s full. It can be 1 plant or 6. Hope that helps.
^ this right here
So number 1 factor, which is true for most things grow is genetics. If you have a small yield strain then you will get small returns no matter input values. I average right around 1lb in a 5×5 if things are running semi smooth (every grow will be slightly different, especially if you have a day job). If I have everything dialed and I run a higher yielding strain I can push damn near close to 1.5 lbs. That being said, grow method is a big factor, especially with following plant count. I’d recommend using the SCROG method to maximize the square footage used for canopy space. This along with “lolly popping” will result in the maximum amount of large dense buds you can get in a 4×4 area. I’ve been chasing the 2lbs per harvest now for a while, Ive come close but never hit it.
Another thing to consider as well is veg time. You can get 1 plant to fill a 4×4 scrog with longer veg, or fill the same area with 6 plants using scrog method and have a substantially shorter veg.
One final thought, two or three tents running on separate schedules so one is always roughly 60 days (2 tents) or roughly 30 days (3 tents) behind the other. Basically flipping a tent to flower every 60 or 30 days. If weight to time is a constant factor with everything perfect, then decreasing time between harvest will keep your stash jars full more consistently.
I bank on 2oz a plant. One month veg, 2 months flower. Its more than 2 oz but I just use the best 2oz, and bubble hash the rest.
A 5×5 area with completely full canopy you could get a pound, but it depends on the grow method and if the brix says above 10 the whole grow. Some people say they get 2 pounds a light.
There is no straight forward answer to this, as there are too many variables involved. These types of ideas are little more than wishful thinking. Breeders usually have an idea of their plants average yield. The most I ever got off a single plant indoor was just over a pound, with that crop finishing around 2 1/2 pounds. My average plant is 1 – 2 oz. indoor. I’ve also never grown in a 4 x 4. With that said, I suggest staggering the plants – don’t start them all at once. Spread them out a week a plant. This way, as the first one is starting to fill out, the last one is entering the tent. This is my preferred method because the yield goes way up, and trim jail is a breeze. Good luck.

I’ve gotten 2.25 lbs with the same setup. You need the right pheno, lots of ligh, and a scrog.
You also need to utilize vertical space, and pin your lights to the ceiling.
