I recently completed my first grow — four autoflowers in coco, with Grow Dots and Recharge. Four different strains (Tangie, OG Kush, Gorilla Glue #4 and Super Silver Haze). The crop yield wasn’t great — 6.25 ounces overall, and the quality, both taste and impact, are decent. I learned a lot and I’m currently eagerly planning for my next crop, starting at the end of the month.

One of the things I think I’d like to do differently this time is to set up a lung tent, so I can reduce some of the heat and humidity fluctuations that result from my environmental gear interactions, and also to open up more space in my 5 x 5 tent.

Specifically, in my current 5 x 5 tent, I have a Wynter 14K BTU Arc-14S air-conditioner, a Keystone KSTAD224D dehumidifier, a Homeech HM-AH001 humidifier, and a Vornado MVH Vortex heater. I also have a floor-standing fan for circulation and that will stay put.

My question is about sizing the lung tent and the exhaust that is required to properly condition the air in my 5 x 5. I currently have a 2 x 4 tent that I used to dry my last harvest, and that could be repurposed for the grow tent if the size is going to work well (I’ll replace the drying tent later). That 2 x 4 tent already has an AC Infinity Cloudline T6 inline exhaust fan, with an AC Infinity 6-inch Air Carbon Filter. I think all of the listed equipment will fit in the 2 x 4, though it will be a little bit crowded.

While I’d appreciate opinions on whether this proposed configuration will work well for establishing and maintaining a more stable environment in my 5×5, I assume that there are some formulas that can be applied to this, based on how often I need to be replacing the air in my grow tent. I’d be interested in knowing that as well as how to calculate it myself.

I’ve done a number of different searches looking for more info on lung tents, but I’m not finding a lot that’s current.

Can anybody help me get on the right track here?
