So I grow in a 2x3x5 tent, Using a 100w LED (thinking of upgrading), I’m growing normally in Coast of main Stonington mix with added neem meal. I am currently using the Roots organics Dry amendment line with Recharge, and using some pruning and training tecs. I try too veg as long as I think I can, and I’m only yielding about 1.5 Oz a plant. what could I possibly do too bump those numbers up?

100 watts is not enough light to yield much. Get more wattage for more yield.
I agree with mystro. You could find an affordable 200 watt quantum board and it would light a 2×3 effectively. If you want bigger yields the first thing to do is to dial in the lighting.
But once you get the light dialed in, it’s best practice to make sure your entire tent is filled with canopy. Usually a topping and some training of some sort can get it done pretty easily.
As for training, I have had great success with 90 degree plant trainer clips. If you shop for them I would suggest the American made ones, they are good quality and have the appropriate sizes.
Once you have the light dialed in and a full canopy, then you can get an idea of where your starting from and then you can start messing with nutrient blends or additives and see how they affect yield.
Pot size can also be a factor if growing organically. I don’t have much experience growing cannabis in a soil mix with amendments, but there’s probably a dgc who could give you insight of what size pots to run for best yield in your situation. Generally though, bigger is better for organics.
Hope this helps, happy growing & #growerslove
I’d think (2) 7gals would be a nice fit for a 2×3. Might be able to squeeze in 10s. You don’t have to start in the big pots either. Stepping up pots can make it easier to get the watering down, and will help you get some dense root masses. I tend to go from solo cup to 2 gals, then to the 7’s or 10’s. Some people go to the 1 gals for easier watering, but I find they get depleted quickly with the coast of maine (used it for many runs). I can get through the majority of veg in the 2 gals with maybe one top dress of something all purpose like Bio-Live (5-4-2) or some craft blend from bas, or many others out there. Depends how long I’m vegging. I usually end up transplanting into final pots about a week or two before flip. This gives me time to shape my canopy, topdress for flower, and allow the roots to settle in some. Whether it be scrog, bamboo or the clips Phil mentioned. Clips sound like a smart idea because you can start shaping in the 2 gals.
This is just my way, and what works for me. I’m just laying out an example. And 200 watts sounds perfect for a 2×3. The right size light also helps with keeping the temps up during lights on. Allowing the plants to metabolize on the higher end like Phil also mentioned.
Hope this helps paint a picture some. Good luck growmie
Some great advice up here, from more lighting to a larger pot.
Temperatures and humidity will also play into this. The lower end of the acceptable temp range will grow smaller plants. They will drink less, which means less nutrient uptake. Humidity plays into that as well in regards to VPD, which also factors in to the uptake from the roots.
Genetics will play a role as well, some just yield better than others, but there are other things that can be improved as the guys above have mentioned.
This is very similar to what I’m doing. I veg 2 x 4 x 5 under 100w LED and They do great. FFoF soil and DTE dry nutes, with recharge.
I have major hight restrictions so my flower tent is also 5 feet tall. 4 x 4, I run 400w in there. This keeps my DLI roughly the same when I flip. (I run 24hr veg cycle). I use 10 gals in the big tent. I get minimum 4oz per plant.
If your environment is dialed, and your plants are healthy, I think with similar nutes which yours are, and big enough pots (probably 7s) you could slap another 100w board in there at flower so when you drop to 12 hrs you can get the same DLI, you will double output easy.
If that 100 watt’r is at 100% in veg then when you hit the timer your getting 25 to 50% less light in flower then in veg depending on your light cycle. Right when you should be pushing more light.
I think you can get an additional 100w board from spider farmer for 89 bucks. Fast cheap and easy fix man. If you have the amps (amp?)
I use a Viparspectra P2000 200w for my 30″x40″x60″ grow cabinet. A great little light for ~$150.
One hlg rspec 135 would be able to flower that area out. What type of led are you using is the key in this. Not all LEDs are the same. Some state 100 watts but only pull 40-50 from the wall. Everything noted This is assuming your environment is on point. Don’t go for a number per plant. Learn to grow a happy healthy plant first. Then worry about the fine tuning.
With all that said. Throw down a net. Scrog them out and keep on tucking till the end of stretch. Check out the northern scrogger. His techniques are on point.
When you find out, let me know. Iv never made the lb per light everyone talks about.
Veg time plays a big factor in that claim. BIG 🙂
How about the bud you do get. Are the dense like velvet marbles or are they fluffy after cure? You can definetly increase both yield and quality with some denser buds. easier said than done but it can be worth it to get better at what you do grow with what you have then trying to add more , unless you up that light a snap, and thats going to make your other parameters change too. Lower the one you have until your light meter hits around 40000 lux for the entire 12 hours , i dont know anything about led grow lights except you can get really close , dont know how close but your meter will.
As someone who’s harvested multiple runs under 100watters I can say 100% strain dependent! I’ve got some strains/phenos that have thrown down some hard chunky buds yielding 2 ounces after a 1 week veg from seed and shared with another plant under the same light to some strains/phenos in the exact same environment same conditions and growing media have nugs that just ain’t that big !
I just harvested my 2x4x6 with 2 hlg100r’s ,3 plants vegged 2 months in 7 gals …shit got a little outa hand and probably not ideal but from the looks of it I’m well above the 1gr./w , candle as my co2 source (yes dude inspired me , it works and it’s cheap )
If you’re looking to max your only source of light being a 100 watter in the space you’ve got, with the experience I have I’d suggest 1 plant vegged 1 month in a 5 gal , granted you top or train to maximize your canopy
Just to let you and other growers know I have over ten years accumulated a lot bags nutrients amendments and light if your in a fix let me know we can get together and go from there.
I’d love to chat and see what you have
Thank you everyone for all the awesome info!
