Greetings, I live in a pretty lame state but would like to grow for medicinal reasons. I’m limited to a closet and 2×2 tent. What light should I start with that won’t break the bank? It’s a little overwhelming trying to navigate all the lighting available.

Id recommend a spider farmer sf1000.
Its like 160.00
Its a 100 watt lamp and its good for 2×2.
I use one all the time. I feel its worth the money.
Me too 🙂
Hlg makes a 100 watt fixture for $149. They answer the phone. The 135 would prob be to much for that space.
I have a viper spectra p1000 in my 2×2. It is very similar to the spider farmer and Marx hydro. Pulls an even hundo in wattage and costs a hundo at Amazon. Any of those three would work for you but so would any decent 100w LED. I think even HLG has one.
I would recommend the Spider Farmer 1000 as well, mainly because I have used that one in a 2×2 tent. It is a 100w light. Mars Hydro, ViparSpectra also make similar models.
The important thing with any light in that space, you will want a unit with a dimmer option. There will always be a need to keep it away from the top of your tent due to light fixture heat.
I just checked the spider farmer website. They are actaully running a small sale on the sf1000 and it is dimmable and you can dasiy chain them together if you ever get more later on down the road.
I feel bad pushing SF lights over HLG but i have no experience with HLG lights. 🤷
I use HLG and Spider Farmer’s. And I don’t care what Scotty says the customer service for Spider Farmer is on point. I’ve needed customer support from both companies and both were on their game. Btw no problems with either light! Good luck! 🤙🤙🤙
100w LED is only 25w/sq ft. I think the old HPS/HID wattage recommendations of 35-40w/sq ft for maximum growth potential still holds true with full spectrum LED’s as well. I know we should use PPFD but somethings still work.
I added 2- Vipraspectra P600 as additional side lighting last year and they are great little lights. 95w draw each, bright full spectrum, dimmable and cool. I got them both(190w) for less than $140.00 delivered, just saying.
Don’t underwhelm yourself with too little light for a few bucks when you can do a little educated shopping, minimum 150w in a 2×2. Happy Growing 🙂

Popping new seeds is almost as exciting as opening your new girls bra for the first time and seeing what pops out.
You aren’t “OG” unless your first joint was in ZigZag Wheaties
Nickel bags, dime bags, halves, lids and dollar joints, those were the daze

Cannabis taught me the metric system before it was taught in school
Everything that I know about botany and horticulture I learned from cannabis, the rest I learned from the DGC.
Did you buy the tent yet?
I’m running the SE3000 (300w) in my 2×2 and it fits perfectly into the sf1000 kit tent.
For real?? Id like to see pics of that and updates as the grow goes.
Hope you have a dimmer switch with that 3000 and oh yeah a good circulation of air to keep that temperature under 90 or throw a cake in their to bake! Better yet, and I am not by any means messing with you Birmin , tell us how you control all those areas so maybe people like myself can learn more about limited space control and keep it all in the price range.
Am trying out the Optic LED Gmax 150. Its killing it at only 50%, its an amazing quality light using newer Samsung Chips too. Good luck with your hunt.
Heres a shopping list I wrote for a 2×2 grow tent. It goes over some lighting recommendations as well as all the other gear I recommend for a small tent grow.
