Making Seeds Posted by tc4birdie | Jan 13, 2021 | Grower Questions | 4 | After you pollinate a couple buds how long should I wait to turn my fans back on?
Chad.Westport on January 13, 2021 at 2:17 am I’d wait an hour or so, maybe mist the air and the leaves around the area you pollinated. You basically want to remove or neutralize any excess pollen, which can be tiny grains. So it’s not necessarily a time issue. You can put a clear bag over the pollinated buds for a little bit. Another thing you can try is to let the humidity rise a little, which it likely will with the fans off. Log in to Reply
RASUFA on January 13, 2021 at 2:24 pm The method I saw that I intend to use is a lunch bag after pollinating. It allows air and light to penetrate the bag and it can be on for a few days to let pollen absorb while fans just operate normally. As CHAD mentioned a mist of water can help it stay put once you dust the flowers. Best of luck whichever method you choose. Log in to Reply
SCdungslinger79 on January 13, 2021 at 3:20 pm Good advice from Chad and Rasufa as usual. My method is very similar except that I pick top flowers that I want to pollinate and cover them with a plastic bag. I use the long plastic produce bags from the grocery and they’re free. Then I spray the plant with water, remove the bag, pollinate and recover with bag and spray again with water. When the plant is completely dry I remove the bag and leave the fans off for +/- 24 hours. Be sure to mark the pollinated branches with a wire tie or something and you’re done. There’s no mold or moisture problem since they are only in the 3-4 week of flower. You want to pollinate when the flowers look like puffballs with the pistils sticking out like Scotty’s hair on a bad hair day.
