Just wondering if anyone has any experience with octopots? My grow isn’t at my house some weeks I can get there 2-3 times maybe more others it’s one to two so the plants will dry out completely it isn’t enough to hurt the plants but i think they could definitely benefit from having more food available. I like the idea of still being able to grow in dirt/peat but then still having that reservoir I’m just wondering is going to be as difficult as a hydro set up in theory you would think it would work well I’m in the process of changing my whole room up just want to make sure I get it right thanks for any help glad I found the DGC you guys rock.

Check out Scotty’s Octopot playlist. https://www.dudegrows.com/scotty-reals-octopot-playlist/
Yeah Scotty used the octopots for a while and always had nice stuff to say about them. I think he was doing them with coco and bottled feeding tho.
Another good option to consider is blumat drippers. I have my 3×6 soil beds setup on bluemats and they’ve worked great.
They work especially well if you are doing a living soil type of grow and just giving them water. I rest easy knowing my plants are fed by the soil and watered by the blumats without me even doing anything.
I like spending time with my plants so I haven’t really tried it, but I could totally get away with visiting my flower room once a week or less if I needed to.
It does really free me up to focus on veg and other parts of the grow though.
Hey Soup! Hoping for a little follow up on your experience with Blumats. I’ve been looking into them, but haven’t been able to pull the trigger. Mostly I’m stuck on which carrots would be best for 7 gallon pots. Also, on Blumat’s site they have suggested watering set ups for different sized pots and for pots this size it looks like they are suggesting a drip tape, but I haven’t been able to find those anywhere. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Here’s a good website with lots of options. Mentions 5in carrot good for under 10 gallons. 10 gal up they suggest 9in carrot.

Found em. Thanks!
Have you worked with blumats? Any issues running nutrients thru their carrots?
No I went with the diy hempy sip tote on a float valve but ive heard they run mineral nutrients with out a problem. Ive heard stuff like liquid kelp, bottled organics or anything sticky that gums up is not a good idea. Also checking with sustainable village as they might have a suggestion on safe nutrients that work well with this system.
Also for a diy project look up sip sub irrigated planter. You could make them any size u like.
Think if would raise performance to throw an air stone in your sub irrigated planter
I’m kind of in the same boat in that I’m switching to living soil, but I am a HUGE fan of autoHempy subirrigation…. Well, I’m a fan of subirrigating all together, but the Hempy is the simplest way to do it.
Have you looked up the subirrigated raised beds? They’re meant for outdoors, but I’m sure the same concept would work indoors with living soil.
