Outdoor Grow Has Spider Mites Posted by Top farmer | Aug 29, 2018 | Grower Questions | 5 | Growing two plants outside. I am now having spider mite problems. The two plants are in flower so I have to be careful on what I use on the plants. I am hoping there’s a remedy to this problem. Thanks Guys!
SpartanGrown on August 30, 2018 at 7:38 am If you are in early flower, some predator mites would probably be your best bet, but if you are like me and would have to order them online, that might get expensive fast, especially since you usually would need to pay for overnight shipping. Another option you have are to source what you can locally. If you have a local grow store, check to see if they have lady bugs, they don’t work as well, but they do eat spider mites. Also, spider mites tend to not like higher humidity, so you can simply mist your plants with water. If you hit them directly with water there is a chance you can drown them or at least physically knock them off the leaves. This will help with the mites themselves, but any eggs will be left behind. I wouldn’t spray anything at all if you are late in flower, but if you are still within the first 4-5 weeks of flower and you are just using plain water, you should be OK. You really don’t want to direct the spray directly on any buds try to concentrate on the underside of leaves where the mites tend to hang out. Good luck, and #growerslove! Log in to Reply
Doc Browns Green Thumb on August 30, 2018 at 7:55 am Look at Tweetmint from build a soil. It’s an enzyme based cleaner that kills a variety of bugs and pm. Can be used all the way through flower. Might not kill them completely off, but will keep them under check until harvest. Write to them directly for more advice. Log in to Reply
GodfatherKush505 on August 31, 2018 at 10:17 am I agree with SOUP. And I have a confession… I have mites in my grow. I have been doing the knockdown method EVERYDAY and have kept the webs off my buds but definitely have to keep on the population. I use a pump sprayer and blast those mother fuckers! I have definitely harmed my thrichomes and wet my bud a bit but I keep fans moving the air and make sure to keep things dry. Its been working to get me to harvest but Its not my long term strategy. I plan to introduce beneficials once I harvest and let nature take its course. As long as you have airflow and can prevent bud rot you can make it rain erry-day on your girls. You got to do what you got to do.. Growers Love!! and FUCK MITES! Log in to Reply
SOUP on August 31, 2018 at 7:16 pm The crew nailed it above ^ manual removal/ gentle spraying with cool water or something very gentle to knock down the population, and then release predators to clean up any survivors. Log in to Reply
