Hey DGC top of the morning! I’m currently on my 3rd grow. I made the switch from fox farm over to promix. I’m using Down to earth nutes. My question is how much water I should apply in 5 g fabric pot. I’m running autos 14 days from seed. I’ve noticed promix retains moisture. I’m paranoid to overwater.

Well depending on the size of the plant in the pot. I usually estimate 1 quart per gal of soil. I used to use promix. I really am very happy to be back with ocean forest or kings mix. I like the drainage much better. I would over water and over dry out. Good luck. You are now entering the most important learning phase of your career. Watering. You’ll get a feel eventually. Don’t be afraid to cheat with moisture meters.
If you are using ProMix it’s proper to water slowly and thoroughly until run-off. Every time. ProMix HP is kind of super difficult to drown a plant in. Just water slowly and evenly across the media until run-off. ProMix HP works best between like 70-90% saturation, so in flower you can feed it up to six times in a light cycle, each feeding is small like a quart, and you can end up with some stunning results.
Promix is basically peat and perlite, no significant nutrition and no compost. Its basically a blank slate, designed for people using liquid nutrients (not the soil) to feed their plants.
When using something like the Down to earth amendments, you really need to add some organic matter into the mix, otherwise the dry amendments wont breakdown properly and won’t be available to your plants. Make sure you are adding some compost or worm castings to your mix, otherwise this soil mix isnt going to work well with dry amendments.
2/3rds promix + 1/3rd compost + down to earth biolive @ label rate = a pretty good soil, but that compost part is really important.
As far as overwatering, just make sure you arent watering when the soil already feels heavy and saturated, and make sure your pot has good drainage and you arent letting it sit in a puddle.
Heres some more info for ya:

Simple soil mix- (you can copy this basic format, but use 2/3 promix + 1/3 compost as your “base mix” and Down To earth biolive as your “nutrients and minerals”)
