Good day DGC. I recently purchased a light from a local used site. It is a Quantum board with two drivers at 240w each. I know everyone says use Samsung lm301h or lm301b diodes and meanwell drivers. This light does have Samsung diodes but the drivers are just a generic Chinese driver. Is it possible to tell what diodes these are or is there a big difference between the 301h and 301b? Lastly if I have driver failure is it fairly simple to swap out the driver? Thanks guys, Bringing myself into the new age of Technology and I made need a little help along the way.

If you do need to replace them you can mount the driver away from the fixture keep.your temps.downn on the environment they are not like HPS but still.kick out a fair bit of heat. I have a sf4000 which looks just like that if your plants like it then it doesn’t matter that much what the diodes are. Especially if you bought it second hand it’s worth a go either way. Meanwell drivers are a generic driver for these applications a sign of quality/reliability associated with the brand. Don’t know if I helped or just stoned rambled edibles are strong the evening peace
H is for horticultural and has a coating to protect led from sulfur. Which is often used in grow rooms. Drivers are easy to swap for sure. Not sure there is anyway to tell from looks without manufacturer information.
Congrats on the new purchase Gbay. The important thing there is to match the voltage, amps ect. Use the same gauge wire and you should be good. Diodes have different levels of quality, even in they carry the same model number, this is referred to as “binning”. This is usually how lower priced lights advertise the same diodes as the expensive ones, but they manage to be much cheaper. In short, binning refers to a few things but mainly failure rate.
