DUDES,
JUST STARTING MY RECOVERY FROM ROOT ROT. 🙁 2ND TIME AROUND. I WAS USING H2O2 AN GOT THE ROT 2 X’S. SO I SWITCHED TO HYDROGUARD AS DIRECTED ALSO SUPERTHRIVE. WITHIN 3 DAYS ROOTS ARE POPPING LIKE A MO FO!!! NOW I NOTICE A CLEAR TO MILKY FILM ON ROOT ENDS IN WATER. IS THIS A GOOD BIO FILM? I’M NOT SURE IF I SHOULD CHANGE MY RES AS SCHEDULED OR LET IT GO ANOTHER. WEEK AN KEEP N EYE ON IT BECAUSE THE ROOTS ARE JUST STARTING TO TAKE OFF AGAIN. ANY INFO WOULD BE GREAT I GOT PHOTOS.
Any bio film or roots sticking together is a bad sign. Hopefully she’ll grow out but this setup is tough. Are you controlling water temperature and changing res often. Hydroguard may not be enough look into some other beneficial microbes. Just a powder mycorrhizae is more then important as it positively infects roots and makes home where pathogens can’t. I’ve also had good results with flying skull z7.
I always assumed slimy roots were no good. I am not sure if you do or dont have an air gap between the netted cup and the water line
I would recommend a larger one because it looks like the only healthy roots are coming out the sides and the ones not yet in the water…suggesting the issue is lack of oxygen. I would keep at least an inch or two between them…and maybe more depending on the strength of your bubbler. Let the popping of the air bubbles rising to the surface mist the roots and cause the plant to drive down to the water.
