What up DGC! I just picked up some free samples of roots organic 3 part dry nutrient line called Uprising. I’ve always used the roots organic original soil so i figured id give thier dry nutes a try.
The problem is ive never used dry nutrients and im not really sure how often to apply. The instructions say 1-2tsp for 1-10 gallon containers, half that amount when using all 3 together.
I’m going to try this line out on 1 of my purple headband seedlings (shout out to Seeds Here Now thanks for the discount dude) this run to see how it goes. I’ll be using roots organic original soil in 5 gallon fabric pots with added perlite and Scotty’s worm poop. Any advice on how to use this stuff would be awesome, thanks DGC!
Interested in these as well, I use there bottled line with the powdered elemental. I would start at like 1/2 recommended dose an see how they do with that. With the elemental it can also be watered in and doesn’t have to be amended, not sure if that is the case for these but works well with elemental.
Looking at the ingredients, it looks like they are just a bunch of kelp crab guano etc… pretty much typical organic topdressing stuff. Looks like an interesting product but I suspect its overpriced for what it is. Down to earth makes similar dry amendment blends that are way cheaper.
I’d spread the recommended amount across the top of your soil and then spread a layer of compost or worm castings on top. Put some straw or leaf trimmings from your grow on top of that to act as a mulch layer and help keep everything moist. Water as usual and watch the organic magic happen. Should be pretty forgiving and easy to use.
Is it a weekly application like with liquid nutes? Do i always use all three at half strength or do i need to cut out the grow when i start using the bloom? The instrutions on the bag are a little vague and i guess im used to a weekly feed schedule
I’m a fan of this stuff, and the staff at Aurora are great. I have been corresponding with a guy named Vance that has been just awesome.
I used the Uprising line in my veggie bed at my old place and I was beyond impressed with the growth of everything. It is worth noting that I had amended the soil with it in the beginning, then top dressed when needed.
Not sure if it’ll help you at all but… here’s how it went down: I started with a base mix of 2 parts pro-mix, 1 part castings, and a handful or two of perlite in every 5 gallon bucket. Then I just added 1 ounce by weight of each Grow, Foundation, and Bloom, and Viola! Aside from bennies I didn’t have to add a damn thing other than support for a couple of the monsterous plants.
I meant to say 1 ounce by weight of each per dry gallon of soil base lol I thought I may as well post the weights while I’m at it.
Foundation
Weighs 3.75 grams per Tsp
Takes 7.5 Tsp to make an Ounce
Grow
~3.75 grams per Tsp
Takes ~8 tsp to make an ounce
Bloom
~4.5g per Tsp
Takes ~6.25 tsp to make an ounce
IE
The ratio to mix a quart or gallon of soil would be:
1 quart Soil Base:1.75tsp Foundation:2 tsp Grow:1.5 tsp Bloom
Or
1 dry gallon soil base:7.5tsp foundation:8tsp grow:6.25 tsp bloom
