Hey DGC,
I have a tiny grow space. Big 3×6 bed, living organics. But I only have about 4.5′ of vertical space. I’ve always just grown autos indoor for this reason. I’d really like to run some photos inside. Does anyone have a recommendation for strains that won’t stretch too much? I intend to scrog the heck outta the plants regardless, but I don’t want to get in over my tops. I have the Grandpas Stash multipack from ethos and I’d like to run one of those, so if you have a req with one of those crosses that’s great, but really any strain rec’s are appreciated.
Thanks!
You can control height in a lot of different ways! Top them right when they get to the 5th node and tie branches down continuously. Just pay attention to how much room you have width wise because once you run out they can only go up. Also you can control stretch with VPD and crop steering. They will stretch more and have more vigorous growth with a higher temperature and higher humidity. If you lower both during the stretch period it will slow the stretch. The tallest photos we have ever had were just about at that 4.5 foot mark but most are around 2.5ft. We flip to flower at about 1.5 to 2ft tall and scrog them throughout the first 3 weeks of flower until the stems get to hard to bend easily. We personally do not prefer super tall plants just a lot of top colas everywhere! We have been able to control a variety of different strains this way including our Dosidos and Green Punch phenos which stretch 2.5 times their height. Good luck! Photos are fun!
warlock fits for compact plants with reputable breeding( never heard a bad word about serious seeds and the team are friendly, helpfull and dedicated)
keeping day and night temps as close as possible reduces stretch a lot.
and if your still struggling with hight flower from seedlings and sea of green it or from cuttings that are freshly rooted with no grow time.
Link to sensi seeds twitter to give you dome visuals on how low you can go

also “come sog with me” can be googled to see another very good example of a short plant growing style. really high on numbers but regular fresh harvests with low running costs since theres no veg
Venom og is super short. Had to give her the boot over here because of it. I guess I’m into leggy gals.
is there an anti dutch seed vibe going about justnow?
You can definitely grow most plants with that amount of height, you just need to flip early. Don’t be completely put-off by breeder warnings of double or tripling in height after flip, just prepare for it. And if one top gets away from you, go ahead and let it stretch. You can chop it off before it touches the light and the rest of the plant will partly make up for it. Don’t let the loss of the main top bum you out, it’s just part of the learning process.
I’m growing my first photo ever (purple punch ilgm) with only a 2×2 tent for space. If you want to know how it goes look for my posts here and on the DCG discord.
Thanks for all the tips, I’m going for it. Gonna try out these Spanish MoonxGrandapa’s stash crosses from the Gpa’s multipack. Cheers!
Anything I’ve grown that had Gelato 33 as a parent tended to have minimal stretch. Gelato Cake by Humboldt Seeds is an example.
