Good morning DGC. So I’m wondering if anyone has ever seen this before. I have a two branches on my plant that are growing together and made this wacky looking bud. Every bud site on the branch is growing doubles of everything too. Do I have some rare genotype or did I fim when I topped causing two new tops to grow together instead of separately? I’m 14 days into flower and this nug looks like it’s going to be huge.

First thought it may be a polyploid but fasciation is a mutation similar to polyploids but only the top (apical meristem) bud grows in a banded pattern.
Is that good or bad?
They tend to be a headache. I cut the whole branch off when I come across that now. The odds of anything usable being produced from that are EXTREMELY low. The only positive thing is they do look neat.
I wouldn’t consider it good.
You’re witnessing fasciation. I am moderately sure people can run this mutation through to harvest. You just have extra wide flowers.
You’re right, fasciation mutation causes banding instead of a round cluster polyploids show.
Polyploids? Fascinating!🖖🏼
Fasciation is cool, and in my limited experience with it you do get bud, but tends to be leafier and not pretty. Flat stems are kinda cool too.
If you were growing for production, I’d suggest cutting out branches that show it. I found it on two in-bred cookie strains in organic soil. The exact cause(s) are unknown, but I tossed those bags of soil just to be sure. I posted pics on Cannabuzz a year or two back under my handle there NayHay.
it almost looked like a caterpillar at first glance…lol
