Soil grower, but clones are in coco Posted by StonedTroutBum | Jun 15, 2020 | Grower Questions | 5 | Hey dudes! Swapped some clones with a local grower, but come to find out, they were cloned in Coco. Should I throw them in my media of choice ( pro mix HP CC )? Any issues I’m going to run into short-term / long-term? Thanks for any help!
JustCoolin on June 16, 2020 at 8:15 am I would be worried if it was the other way around. The peat would hold more water then the coco and would make the root ball stay to wet as the coco dries out much faster. You might knock what you can off on transplant day but other than that I think you’ll be fine. Log in to Reply
Agent 47 on June 16, 2020 at 9:41 am I have done the same in the past and justcoolin is right. I leave the root ball in tact and go right in the soil. Whenever I try to open up the root ball they always shock and slow down a bit… I sprinkle great white or dynamyco right on the roots at every transplant. Thats very important! The biology alone will help the transition from coco to soil. Hope that helps! Fish on! (I’m an angler myself) Log in to Reply
StonedTroutBum on June 16, 2020 at 9:55 am Good point, get those soil microbes on the roots, I’ll transplant asap while they still look healthy and happy Log in to Reply
