Solo Cup Transplant

When is the best time to transplant from solo cup to my 5 gal. pots? I have 3 sets of leaves now.

personally I pot them sooner rather than later; 3-4 sets of leaves. as long as your soil has good drainage you should be good to go. To me the advantage of sooner is the roots are less likely to get bound up and continue growing and filling the new space with no “adjustment” period. if you have the space and or time. going from solo to 2gallon to 5gallon is not a bad plan either. cool , thanks. I’m transplanting tomorrow. 2 in a scrog. I’ve been vegging 2 and a half weeks under a 600 watt mh and I have a 1000 watt ballast and a eye hortilux hps for flowering. Going to veg awhile . Not in a hurry. would a 1000 watt mh be better next time . the room is 42″ x 56″ x 84″ tall. I didn’t have the spare bucks for the hortilux blue . 130 bucks is alot right now. i already had the 600 watt system . my previous grows ending in bugs , burnt up leaves . And the truth is I was a sloppy grower. this time I’m going to keep my shit straight ,

I like to wait till I can see some roots this last run I waited till the roots started to swirl around and I think they did great when I transplanted

I can’t give you any solid advice for this run, but maybe the next. But I found the double cup method they talk about on the show SUPER EASY for knowing when to transplant.

If you want, next time try starting them in a clear solo cup and then put that clear cup in a colored cup to protect the roots from lights. Then you can just pull the clear cup from the colored cup and see how full the roots are.

This made it alot easier knowing when to transplant, and takes the guess work out if it because you can see the root growth.
