Ayo! What’s good DGC? I’m coming from prohibition land and standing firm. Question to throw at any of you knowledgeable folks. I’m running a couple no till beds in a sealed grow and using Blumat gravity drip irrigation. I have a inline filter for the water that I picked up on sustainable village, also. With concern in regards to keeping the tiny watering lines clean, and trying to keep an even watering, I had a thought to add a tiny bit of this Q saponin, that I picked up on buildasoil, to the two 5 gallon reservoirs I have daisy chained. Any thoughts. I figured I should get a second opinion before I go ahead.
peace and love
…must carry on.

Is that what they sold it to you for? I am not familiar with that product. However, I am butting in on this because yesterday at the grow shop I got a free sample of HYCLEAN. I guess you drop a few drops in water and it dissolves or eliminates hard water. I had no idea what I would use for other than a humidifier. Now I am wondering if this sample should have gone to you. But either way I’m confused
No, it is actually used as a wetting agent, like yucca extract. To help hydrate the soil/soil-less media evenly. From my understanding, a saponin, such as this product (or soap nuts as a cheaper option), can also be used as an organic cleaner. I don’t run any salt based nutrients through the gravity fed Blumat drip system. My water source started from rain water and has been collected from the dehumidifier and ac on a closed loop system. Thought was that adding the saponin to the water reservoir every month or so would help clean anything that got through any inline filter and would also help clean off drip emitters AND help evenly distribute the water.
My plants eat better than I do
😁
I guess so damn. Now I feel like a piece of shit for how poorly I have eaten myself the last few days
I talk about eating better all the time but never start. Ehhh I guess it is what it is. Been trying to learn the weather severity since moving south of the mason dixon
So I can plan a garden properly
You had a fantastic opportunity to grow snow peas when the rest of us can’t. I specialize in snow peas and collard greens in Florida Lol, I was fucked up everything else. I was young. But those two I did good in the winter
I did just whip up coleslaw with my own cabbage… In December so I guess I’m not the biggest piece of shit on the planet
I looked on the bottle of this high clean. And it does in fact say it is formula to clean and prevent salt mineral and fertilizer buildup in irrigation lines and grow media. It doesn’t show what it is made out of. May because it is a sample bottle. Maybe it’s the same thing?
If you are running blumats with living soil you should water only through them. They get clogged too easily with other stuff and with living soil you shouldnt be doing a lot of liquid feeding anyway.
If you want to do a special watering with some additives or microbes or something, just hand water it into each bed.
I do only run water through them. The thought was that if I mixed the saponin in the reservoir It would organically clean the line and would also help evenly disperse the drips of water which should prevent any runaway drippers. I was thinking back on coots talking about soap nuts and how people use them to wash dishes and laundry because of the saponin in it. Also good for septic systems 😁. If my train of thought is wrong here, please let me know. For the most part I’m using the watering schedule put forth in buildasoil and that mountain organically put down years ago on the grass city forums
