Team, I need some advice. I’m getting some clones from a dispensary. I will be traveling with them for two days. Does anyone have a homemade contraption that they have used to travel with clones? Prohibition land sucks! Thanks DGC!

They just need light to keep their veg cycle. Any battery powered (white) LED attached to the top of a box will work fine.
Thanks J!
I have dragged most of mt cuttings home with a wet towel.
Not weed. Just ripped some branches off stuff
Maintaining light cycle would be ideal, but two days also isnt enough time for them to get too messed up if you cant. They’d be fine in the dark or with irregular lighting if its only for two days. Much longer than that and you’d risk them starting to flower or suffer from stress. Since its just two days, I wouldnt worry about the photo period too much. They might start to flower or get a little stressed from 2 days in the dark, but they will quickly recover once you get them home.
I’d actually be more worried about keeping the roots happy and free from damage. One easy solution is to plant them into some small pots or even solo cups full of soil or coco. The roots will be much safer in some soil and the plant will be a lot happier than if you keep it as a loose clone that could get banged around a lot during your travels.
A few years ago I went with the DGC team went to the Emerald cup in sonoma. I knew i was going to buy some clones at the event but was concerned about them sitting for a few days or getting damaged during the drive home.
My solution was to bring a little travel grow setup with me. I packed a plastic tub with a few 1 gal pots of soil, some recharge and a small LED strip light I usually use for cloning. After buying my clones at the event, I walked them out to the car and transplanted them into the 1gals, and hit them with a little recharge. Back at the Air Bnb I hung the little LED strip in the closet and put the tub with the plants inside it underneath. This kept them happy for the two days we were at the event, and when it was time to drive home I put the plants in the tub and put the lid on so they wouldnt be seen.
Clones made it home safe and it all worked out really well!
Thanks Soup! I’m traveling to the great weed state of Michigan from NC in a couple of weeks and am excited to bring back some proven genetics from a dispensary. Living in prohibition land my only option is popping beans.
Idk of a good way to store them but I do know be careful where you put them! I was bringing some seedlings from my place in va to wv(prohibition land) because I was gone for the weekend and needed to water them when I was gone. I had them on my passenger seat. Of course when driving on 81 I had to slam my breaks. The container I had them in flew on the ground. I tried to pick up all the seedlings but couldn’t find one. It had rolled under my seat and of course it broke, so I lost that one
Thanks for the advice!
Mr Toad from Boneyard seeds makes the best clone shipper. The cup locks in place, it has a light and the design is rugged.
Chad! Thanks for that information. I’m going to check Boneyard seeds right now.
IMHO clone shippers have there place but most of the time its just a product for someone to market and make money from.
Simple healthy cuttings in damp paper towels in a Ziploc bag that is not sealed will work. Cuttings can last weeks if kept like this in a cool dark place tike a cooler.
