What’s up DGC
Need help diagnosing this plant. I acquired it from a friend that was just gonna toss it so I decided to snag it and try to get her going. She never really took off since seed and I’ve tried it all. Thought maybe it was root bound and tried repotting it, nothing. pH is good, under 18/6, grown in roots organic and no bugs (that I know of) my buddies grow is clean and nothing else he runs has this issue. I’m starting to think it has some weird stuff going on at the roots, maybe a virus or just a junk seed. Anyways let me know what you all think. If it helps it’s a MacFlurry plant (Mac x Slurricane).
There seems to be several issues but they could all be from one cause. The curling looks too mild to be from heat. I’m gonna guess that it was overwatered a few times. That can cause a lack of oxygen to your roots and some of them will die. It can cause a weaker growth pattern and other nutes to be locked out. Like your purple petioles that may be a lack of phosphorous. They may also be purple from whatever stress they are going through so it’s is not necessarily a deficiency. There seems to be some inter veinal chlorosis starting which could be a lack of magnesium or once again might be a lockout. Out of curiosity, why did you transplant something this size into a 6” pot? I would have gone bigger as she will outgrow this pot in a few weeks and you will have to transplant again. She doesn’t looks so bad that she won’t come around. Make sure your PH is good going in and out. Remember that nutrients will deplete quickly in that small container so you will need to feed it sooner than later. Be sure to give minimal water to runoff. I find that I am seeing runoff in a six inch pot with 1-2 cups of water depending on the plant. It means less input more often. She will grow and give you buds and they could even be super chronic, but keep in mind she may always express a slightly unhealthy look if her root zone has damage. I’ve seen giant plants with root zone damage or fucked up leaves and gotten wrecked off of their flower. It’s a personal call wether you want give it real estate in your tent or toss it in the trash. I would be tempted to let it ride a bit and see how she goes.
It went from a solo cup to the 6” its in now. I just assumed his watering practices were good but now that you say it I too think I could be from overwatering. I’ll let it dry out a bit before I go watering it again. The roots organic and the 6” pot is what my buddy put it in when I suggested to repot it. I may put in a 3 gal with ocean forrest and see if she’ll snap back. It’s got good genetics and I’d hate to let it go to waste.
I agree with Ras in many ways…most importantly is pot size. Go to a 5 gal pot and get a fabric pot. Much better for the root system. The plant doesn’t look all that bad. I see some new shoots popping up.and that’s a good sign. They grow quick in the right environment and not so much in a confined space, so the 1 gal pot may have already proven that. Roots spinning around and choking themselves can lend to purple stems as well as a Mag deficiency more so than cal def. Tho a ph lockout can lend to more mag being pulled into the roots than cal and vice versa so getting that right is important.
I would just up pot first and give her some time to recover. Water around the edges to make her shoot roots out. And you may want to add a few microbes to promote a healthy root system. Mychorriaze help alot so products like Great White or ofcourse the all in one Recharge!!
Good luck!
I would check that plant for russet mites. The way the leaves are kinda shiny and curling makes me worry. There could be something nutritional going on, but some of what you’ve got going on looks like classic russet damage.

You’ll need a 60x scope or better to spot them as they are VERY SMALL. Its really easy to miss them with a typical 30x scope most growers have on hand.
If it turns out its russets, I recommend treating with wettable sulfur and doing a full room deep clean. Russets are sneaky and mostly commonly come in on outside clones. This is why its really important to quarantine clones before you bring them into your main grow.
