What’s growing on guys. I am posting a set of pictures taken today (10/21) right before dark cycle. I am wondering if by the look of it I can get some criticism or information on what they think of the autoflower?
Day 24- (2x5x8 Closet) 600w LED 22 in from canopy. Cycle 18/6 —Hi. 78F -Lo. 70F–RH 50-60%
Coco/Perlite 75/25 . 2x 3 Gal radicle bags- Advanced Nutrients- Sensi Grow A/B, B-52, Bud Candy, Big bud and Recharge every other watering.
I wrote back on 10/17 about watering/feeding in my 3 gal radicle bags and Scotty noticed as well as other members of the deficiency in the plant. Maybe cal-mag? I got some help from the community and found that my run off was near 1800 ppm when the PPM in my feed solution was near 500-520 PPM. I got the runoff down to 790 ppm as of 10/20. Last night I fed 1 gallon of RO with 6 ml of AN Sensi Grow A/B, B-52 and 1/2 tsp of Recharge. pH was 5.8 and PPM=440. I can notice the small changes in the color of the leaves for sure. The newer top leaves are nice and green and the lower leaves are still a bit deprived looking? Will they stay that way or can they actually get back to normal looking? Should i consider popping the yellow leaves off ? To end with one last question.. The plant Critical Blue Auto- is at day 24 of from popping above the soil with cotyledons showing. Have I stunted this girl? She has 3 sets of nodes with signs of stretching, working on the 4th node now it looks like? I’m afraid to do much LST other than slightly pulling her down to the sides to get some light under the bigger leaves. It’s near 8 in right now and I know autos don’t get big, but I’m usually getting 2.5-3 ft autos in 2 gal fabric pots.
Anyway guys I appreciate the help and hope to get some relief soon while they are still in Veg…
Stay high and keep growing.
Light burn – I never thought this is a nutrient deficiency.
This is mimicking a potassium deficiency. K deficiency is rare if you are using a complete fertilizer. Insure your ph is around 6 and your pot goes through a dry cycle. High light intensity will close the stomata therfore lower transpiration and stop the transport of nutrients. Thus your plant will welcome and benefit from lower nutes for now.
Stop using the advanced nutrients. Bud candy and big bud not needed now. KIS
Why is the light burn effecting lower leaves and not the tops you ask. It’s because they got a slight burn and never recovered. Your new growth is acclimating and may do better then the lower.
Solution – veg longer under lower intensity lights. Metal halide veg great and you will see and easy transition to white leds. Growers don’t forget these lights. I know your growing an auto and your veg time is programmed by the genetics. When you see the plant start to transition then you may increase the light intensity. Seeds are seeds and small plant are small plants. They must be treated gently.
LST – go for it. She’s small so not much to do.
Cutting off leaves on an auto. I would wait till you feel the leaf is no longer productive.
Just my option.
I’ve seen your posts and the plant’s growing ok but lower growth has had some issues with magnesium. The damaged parts of the leaf will not recover. It will take the plant a little time to recover from the stress. Keep it simple while the plant is still young and in veg. If the plant keeps having the lower leaves yellow between the veins, you can add a little epsom salt to your water to add some magnesium and sulfur.
Sticky Fingers and JMystro, Thanks so much for the information amd help putting my mind at ease. I did upgrade to a 600w Led with this grow and still use the 300w Next to it for the blue dream I have in flower. Also for now i use only Sensi grow A/B, B52 and Recharge. I use bud candy and big bud only during flowering and end my 2 weeks with Overdrive. I moved the light up to 28in from the canopy and water again with PPM at 600 and run off was at 690. So I hope i got the medium under control and I’ll keep you guys posted. Thanks again DGC.
Autos dont need much so yes KIS… Id say just use water and maybe even lite Recharge until you actually start seeing more deficiency signs then you can start playing with your nutes. How often is the pot drying out? Slow growth could be signs of too much water or lock out. The roots stop reaching and your plant stops thriving but I dont think this is your issue..
Growers Love! -GFK
Thanks GFK. I actually don’t let the pot dry out at all. Since using coco i was informed to keep it wet at all times. So what i have startrd doing is watering up to twice a day. Depends how wet it looks. Im usually watering at night about an hour after the lights come on and again in the morning depending on moisture level. Since thet are still small. They only using about 1/2 to 1gal a day.
You are definitely overwatering. The lady is just too young, roots aren’t developed enough to remain wet at all times. The overwatering causes root hair damage, leading to difficulties with nutrient uptake and thus the deficiency you have. Allow her to have air-dry cycles. In other words, after you water, don’t water again until the medium is dry.
Coco Coir is not soil and does not behave like soil. Calmag and nutes are needed with every feed. Dry cycles are not needed and is one of the main benefits of using coco. Multiple waterings per day, fertigations, are a benefit providing fresh nutes, stable pH and nute concentrations in the root zone that cannot always be done with other mediums. This is often why some mention treating coco as hydro.
If the plant droops, then back off to one watering per day but let that coco dry out and there will be problems. To each their own, we all have our own style of growing and sometimes there’s too much information so you have to just learn what works for you and tweak things as you go. I would recommend searching for a website called Coco for Cannabis. Lots of very good information on growing in coco for those of us that are looking for info.
In coco you’re correct to keep the coco moist, do NOT ever let it dry out especially in such small fabric bags.
Short of tossing it into a swimming pool theres no such thing as over watering coco in a small fabric pot.
Thanks Canna. Yea ive searched through their site and watched some videos with Dr. MJ coco. It is definitely informative and that’s where i learned about high frequency fertigation, but I hand water my plants and try to twice a day. With how i am watering them now I am using about 1/2 gallon or 2qts of RO water mixed with my base nutrients and Recharge. I know im not overwatering just because of the fact I’m not even giving them a full gallon sometimes in a 24hr period. I am in 3gal radicle bags so they drain very well and quick. Thanks again guys for the comments. I’m going to take it day by day for now and keep it simple. I swear I feel like veg is more difficult than flower…..
