Last grow i had an issue with the buds drying out too fast and of course the end product smelled and tasted like hay. So i started looking at ways to fix this for the next harvest. And i found water curing.
From everything i have read about it. It seems like it is the best way to do it. However i am unable to find any downside and this is the part that concerns me.. So i can only assume people have tried this on DGC, and can you give me real thoughts about this?
Negatives in taste, etc?
I think i will certainly try to cure some this way this harvest, Just not sure if i want to do a large amount.
Interesting idea. But losing something water soluble. Some terpenes for sure.
Some more info, not sure if you ran across it. A good flush and slow dry with adequate airflow should produce a quality product.

That hay smell and taste is from chlorophyll and not minerals. Chlorophyll is removed through a proper drying process.
I’ve heard this is done to get weed into prisons without there being too much of a smell. Based on that I’m guessing it will destroy your terps and flavor
I’ve only done it once, but I got reasonable results, however, there’s both good and bad news.
Good: yes, water curing will make it not taste like hay. It will have a very light taste, so good for people who consume edibles and don’t like the taste of cannabis. It’s also stronger. The total cannabinoid content isn’t changed, but water curing removes some extra water soluble components that standard curing does not, meaning the same amount of cannabis going in comes out weighing less, and as such is stronger gram for gram once cured.
Bad: it will taste like a wet sock instead. I’m not kidding, it loses all flavour that you would associate with cannabis. Good for stealth weed I guess, especially if it was mixed with tobacco, but if you like the taste of cannabis, this will completely erase that. You will also get a smaller harvest, somewhere around 15% of the freshly harvested weight.
My conclusion: if you’re making edibles that you don’t want to taste the weed in, it’s a great and fast option. If you want your weed to taste like weed … don’t do it, learn to dry cure instead.
Thanks all. This is exactly what I was afraid of. Certainly not what I am looking for. I have gotten a humidifier (really low humidity during the last harvest) and am going to leave everything on stems this time to slow that initial drying down. As it went from Green/wet to too dry in less than a day, even with boveda packs damage was already done. This last harvest was the only one I had issues with, due to extremely low humidity.
Even the whole plant hang will allow it to dry even slower. Definitely try to get the rh around 55-65%. That quick dry will do it to ya. The lovely learning as you grow lol. Stay irie everything in time.
Yo check out Pigeons420 on YouTube…he water cures every time and says his shit is still dank af tasting…
