Hey y’all, we’ve been talking about these Brix levels lately. And doing a little more research, it is reported that certain bugs like certain levels. Every year outside at a very specific time late in flowering, when I have reduced all nutrients and completely eliminated my recharge. I get some spider mites. They are always living close by on the hops. They could come and invade at anytime. Yet, they do not. I am very curious to see if their arrival coincides with my pulling back on sugars and microbes. Peace out, jive turkeys!
What is the BRIX Level that is most appealing to spider mites?

There isn’t an absolute number for cannabis, but in general, 12 is thought to be very healthy, 8 or below is where you begin to open yourself up for potential pest issues. The arrival of insects isn’t strictly Brix related, but what a low Brix plant signifies is a weak plant Bugs love weak plants. If you are seeing this at the same time of year, year after year, it could also be climate / season induced migration…… or it could be exactly what you are saying. Hard to be precise, but those are my thoughts 🙂
Brix is more important in traditional agriculture, where sugar levels of fruits and vegetables are used to determine harvest times, amongst other things.
I have a feeling we will be using BRIX MEASUREMENTS for more and more in the future. Diagnosis,, process of elimination,, noting when things are working that we’re doing or not… I wanna get deeper into it. The testing equipment is so cheap and allows for so much monitoring. I’m excited khaki britchesss
I had almost forgot about this article I wrote here – https://www.dudegrows.com/high-science-what-the-brix-an-explainer-of-brix-soil-health/#comment-433026
That’s interesting that the high sugar in healthy plants turns to alcohol. That’s poison basically. I have some plants 50 days into flowering. I did a water only round 2x and I tested 2 plants. Two different strains. They came in about 6 . I watered yesterday with appropriate feed for this time and added molasses. I will checking today at same time to see if there is any change in leaves. Honey is like 90 FYI.
All fruits and veggies have different ratings for what is considered good or bad. So, there is no “universal” level for every plant, but the highest I’ve ever heard in cannabis is from Brandon Rust who does soil and leaf sap analysis on a regular basis on a commercial scale. He has seen close to 20, but the 12 level seems to be an agreed upon “great” level for cannabis.
Here is the AG dept. scale of brix – http://www.ag-usa.net/brix_test_meaning.htm
Thanx, my next day readings were not than snazzy… I’ll check your scale
Well my veggies are average! Fuck it. They free and don’t have pesticides. I don’t need to excel. I just need to avoid the store.
