I am in week 9 finishing up a run of Grand Master Sexy from Exotic Genetics and two bag seeds of King Tut and Motorbreath. I found white powder mildew on leaves around week 3. I was able to keep it under control with a neem oil and water treatment weekly and stopped at week 6 with a recommendation to not treat 3 weeks to harvest.
I have some mildew popping up on the small fan leaves at the buds, and I’m looking for some help with what to do. Should I wash after harvest, treat before, throw it out? Of course I’d rather save it.
I’m considering bud washing after harvest with water, lemon juice, and baking powder
Anyone have any experience on how to come out with the best product after handling this?
Moldy weed is trash.
So it’s probably toast but you can kill PM in a was. Just a note here you don’t use baking powder, you use baking soda. And that is not what’s going to kill the PM. A first bath of hydrogen peroxide and water will kill the PM and any remaining pests on the plant. The second bath is where you will put the lemon juice and baking soda not powder. The lemon will degrease the oils you sprayed on your plant and the baking soda will agitate the water and help them come off. I would have another bucket or two with straight water to rinse after that. all of that said if you have mold in your flower, I wouldn’t even fuck around with this. I chalk it up as a lesson learned and next time you reach this point be more aware and don’t let the same things happen to cause it again.
Pure crop 1. You can use it up to harvest
I personally wouldn’t mess with it if I’m smoking as flower or making Rosin. But pure crop 1 is completely safe up to day of harvest. It’s not phytotoxic so you can spray with lights on. Kinda pricey but worth it for pm etc
I wish I could throw up some photos I got today. It it really only local to some branches or buds I’ve been able to control it early on with neem oil and periodically spot treating. The local hydro store gave me a free sample of central coast garden products. Green cleaner. It cleaned up spots real nicely, but I just wondering if I should assume it’s all been contaminated at this point?
When IEncountered a few strains that would get Mildew right before harvest, I simply removed the leaves daily. I did not get a mildew on the buds buds so that was not an issue. Moldy weed is for teenagers for sure. Find your local gang of ruffians. Tell them that it has extra tri-combs just for them
I don’t know if I would risk smoking PM. Would you eat a bowl of soup with a spec of crap on one side?
