What up DGC.
My current situation brings my grow out to the garage…uninsulated with a 4×4. Grow tent. Currently its 2:30 pm and its 18F and my tent is sitting at a comfortable 47.8F. With lights off. Lights on it will reach 69-71. My girls are thriving and the fall colors are incredible. Now I do notice that my girls aren’t as large as they are in the summer, but I do find my buds are tastier and more compact. Do you guys think I m having success because of the strains I am growing? Afghan kush, Northern Light and an auto purple or did I just get lucky.
Thanks Dudes, Watching Prohibition Fall
Those are strains that originally did prefer the Northern latitudes, but all things considered, there are many differences. The low temperatures will cause the plant to use less water, which results in water sitting longer in the root zone and can lead to issues with nutrient uptake and Ph. Those can cause a chain reaction and you may see growth slow down or stop. Cellular damage can occur at colder temps. Generally 60 would be the lowest suggested to go and ideally, no lower than 65 in the grow room.
Looks like you made some good smoke, enjoy the reward!
If you were growing in a DWC those low water temps would be driving plant growth like you’ll never see in soil…come to the deep side.
Same reason I drive in the carpool lane by myself, I wanna go fast.
genetics makes a really big difference. Some plants adapt well to the cold. others really hate it.
Some of the more sativa leaning strains I’ve grown basically stop growing below 68 degrees. They don’t die or anything… they kinda just say “fuck you, its too cold” and go on strike until their working conditions improve.
Thank you all for you comments addidng a 360 heater for lights out….Thank you all again…Happy Holidays to all.
