A couple of weeks ago the timer for my lights failed and I was unable to get hold of a replacement for 2 or 3 days. Faced the almost impossible task of being there to turn the lights on and off manually at the correct times I started to think about a wifi smart plug I’d bought recently. I plugged it in as a replacement for the old timer and set a on/off schedule via the smartphone app. I’ve been using it since then and can’t find any negatives with it with positives including smartphone notifications of power failures and exact timing down to the second. They are also half the price of a cheap timer and designed to handle larger appliances like lighting and heaters. Has anybody else used one for this same purpose successfully or unsuccessfully and is there a reason for safety or otherwise I shouldn’t use it going forward.
Thanks In advance from North West England.
I switched to them a couple of years ago, they work great. The only thing to double check is the maximum amperage. I’ve found no reason to consider switching back.
ππΌThis! Make sure it can handle the light you have running on it.
I have one for almost every electric using thing in the grow room. Additionally, I put a 30-minute pushbutton timer on the water pump I use for hand watering so it will shut off in 30 minutes when I forget, which is almost every time I water.
They might light leak because they dont cut off the power 100% like a mechanical timer does. My lights would stay on but so dimmed u couldnt tell unless you stood in pitch black n looked at it
