I was just watching a video on YouTube about using Aspirin as a foliar spray. Is this legit? And what would be the benefits of doing so? I know it can be used in a vase for cut flowers and even have heard for cloning but spraying is a new concept to me.

You’re familiar with its use for cut flowers and germination, this is really where the most results are achieved.
As a foliar, it has been shown on plants in the Nightshade Family to boost immune response slightly, but we aren’t dealing with a plant in that Nightshade Family. Cannabis is in the Cannabaceae Family. Diluted aspirin in water helped protect the plants against insect and microbial attack, but again, the study was not in the same plant family as cannabis.
Hmmmmmm, I think I’m gonna try some Pepto Bismol or Gas-X on mine to help assist with nutrient digestion…???
By that logic some cocaine should speed up the harvest!
Hahaha
Don’t forget the Brawndo!
This is something I might be able to help chime in with my background as an RN.
Aspirin is also known as acetylsalicylic acid, ASA for short. When exposed to a strong acid, like your stomach acid which is hydrochloric acid, it metabolizes into salicylic acid. We know that salicylic acid benefits plants by increasing the plants resistance to disease.
I’m not sure if applied as a foliar spray would benefit cannabis as you’ll need to convert ASA to salicylic acid. Potentially if you water into the soil, the microbes might be able to help with this break down? I’d lean towards soil drench over foliar spray. I’ve heard of old school farmers/gardeners watering in ASA for their plants.
Also, if you were to try this then I wouldn’t use aspirin that’s listed as enteric coated because that means there’s a special coating around the pill so that it breaks down further down in the GI tract. I imagine you’d want to use a form of ASA that is more easily broken down.
Hope that may provide some insight and good luck with your grow.
