It’s been a while since I did a run in Coco so I don’t remember the specifics. First week of nutrients and my runoff water is brown, I’m assuming it’s from the Coco, did I not rinse it enough or did i get the wrong stuff? It is royal gold just coir. Are my plants supposed to crap brown nutes?

yea this is normal. the coco you got probably has more peat or pith in it to hold more water, which can also compact your media if not careful. honestly the runoff will be brown or whatever your nutrient solution color is. Before using gorilla boost coco, i would rinse my coco 2 or 3 times before planting in it. alot of coco out in the market is high in salts and EC so you can burn your plants. the best way to go is, IMO, is brick all natural coco and/or ofcourse check out Gorilla Boost coco, its buffered and ready to go. It will give brown runoff when the media is saturated but this is normal.
Thanks. I did add about 30% perlite to both. For two of them I added the small size and the other two the large perlite.
Happens to me too. You’ll be ok after a few fertigations. I also rinse my coco once then prebuffer with calmag overnight and plant right in. We get a little brown runoff at first but its no big deal. Thats been the preferred method for my family and its been working great. We use Mother Earth just because its $16 for a 1.5 bag here. Check your local shops for coco deals. Its usuall cheaper than online. I dont like brick coco simply because it costs more than Mother Earth at our local shop and its more work. (When you add perlite costs and cal mag and the time to soak) Everyone is different. Hope that helps a little.
Thanks. I prebuffered twice this time since I always seem to have calmag issue in every grow.
