Never tried it, but it looks like a mix of pretty standard dry amendments. Similar to the Down To Earth fertilizer blends except they seem to have a veg formula and a flower formula for topdressing at different stages. Looks like they have you topdressing once with veg formula in veg and then once with the flower formula in early flower. Then they say you can topdress with the veg formula after harvest to replenish your soil for the next run. (So basically no till)
Anyhoo, I can’t vouch for the quality without trying it myself, but it all makes sense in theory so I say give it a try!
Some general tips for this style of growing:
-Use big pots. 15 gals are the way to go in my opinion. Not sure what size grow you are working with, but you can fit 4 x15 gals in a 4×4. For best results, I wouldn’t go below 10 gal. Leave a little room at the top of your pots for topdressing.
-Mix in compost or castings whenever you topdress. This helps break down the amendments and makes them more available, but will also help buffer any excess nutrients.
-USE MULCH! After you topdress, cover it with some straw mulch or plant a cover crop. Protect that top layer by keeping it covered, it will help make the topdress much more effective.
-Don’t topdress after week 4 of flower. Topdressing too late sends mixed signals to your plant and can interfere with a plants natural senescence (fade before harvest).
-Use Microbes! Get some Recharge in there! The microbes in recharge will help break down the amendments and make them more plant available.
Thanks for the info. Current grow is in coco, perlite mix about 70/30. I’ve amended with chicken compost, kelpmeal, calmag, recharge and mammoth P. Things are growing well and was wanting to try and make things as simple as possible and this seems like a good choice for that. I will definitely give it a try. Thanks.
