Are Green Sunshine Company LED lights worth it?
I have a ES180 and its great! however the cheap 220 watt aluminum quantum boards I got off Amazon are brighter for half the price- (Mixjoy) Although the ES has a superior finned heat sink that adds weight and strength and it has heavy plastic sheaths over the light strips for protection… The spectrum looks more red under the ES. Also the ES is 320 watts wich is nice so its not actually twice the price just half again as much as generic. So well worth it for the added durability. and both can grow dank from seed to harvest about the same imo.
I’d give CaliforniaLightworks SolarXtreme lights a look through before you buy an ES. For an Es180’s price you could pay $80 more bucks for 200 more watts SolarXtreme500 & they are quality. Plus they are on sale right now so if you get one in time it’s only $30 more bucks or save more money & grab the SolarXtreme 250 save another $170 plus get 20 more watts than the Es180 still.
I was talking to another person who asked about this light or another. I honestly hadn’t heard much about Green Sunshine Co. so I did a little research on it. Turned out to be a decent light, there are some that are better but many that are worse. In the end, it came down to where he lived and where these were distributed. Not many companies sold lights or serviced lights in his country, and the fact that this company was, clinched the purchase decision for him. Had there been any issues with the light, he can get it fixed quickly and without shipping across the world. If you find yourself in a similar situation, I thought that nugget would be worth considering.
$700 for a 300w light with 2.34 umol/j? Thats gonna get a BIG NO from me!
In my opinion, no, they are definitely not worth it.
They are much less efficient than lights from HLG, Rapid LED, Chilled or a number of other companies.
Most of their lights look way too expensive too!
The HLG 350R goes for $550. Its more efficent (2.75 umol/j), its 50w more power, and it costs $150 less. The HLG 350R gives you WAY more light for your money.
Soup that’s very true. However the ES 180 is heavy duty. not like a quantum board. I have been struck in the head by both and let me tell you they are totally different products…
Es is more for closets where it could possibly bang off the walls.(notice the thick metal end caps) a regular quantum board is nice and light, engineered for a soft tent environment. And remember the ES has thick protective sleeves over the wideband LED’s. I would like to see a test run with removing those covers before comparison just to know the stock umol/j and see how much the sleeves effect the efficiency.
having said that I would have rather spent the 420 on a 3 panel HLG build but was nervous about doing the wiring and it was actually available within 2 weeks during the corona shut down and I was anxious to start up.
I mean the ES was available without delay. Possible because they are only a couple hours away from me, but from the sound of it they have nice delivery department. plus theres only 11 employees making the lights. that reeks of quality to me.
I have the ES 300 V2. My first grow with it did remarkably better than my previous Chinese LED. As i grow in a warm client the passive heat sink worked great and being able to dim it is good as well. Sure you can get cheaper, but it’s solidly made . It’s quality.
The electric sky version 3 looks slick.
Bright as the noonday sun with a cheat sheet printed right onto the dimming switch.
they manufacture their own diodes now.. so does that mean even its parts are made in the USA?
Pretty cool video of it on youtube
