hey guys love the show, ive managed to convince the wife that the 4×4 tent is too small and got permission to build a dedicated area in our basement. I have a 8’x 15′ area to work with bare concrete floors and im having trouble deciding on what to use on my ceiling/walls. Panda plastic, reflective foam installation,or dry wall and paint? What would y’all recommend? Thanks for putting the show and keep up the good work! Ps Any idea when we will be able to get Recharge in Canada??( hear about it so much and cant find it here, im dying to try it!!)

Panda framed with 1×2″s is very easy to work with. Get a staple gun and rip up little cardboard squares to staple to the Panda so it doesn’t tear out of the staple easy…
Is it permanent? Flat white paint with a nice anti mold primer is the jam.
If u need to divide it in some manner, just frame out a gerry wall with a 2×4 frame out and staple gun panda poly on both side of the frame (white side out obv) that will make a cheap lightweight light barrier that can be taking down at need.
Not permanent? Panda the whole damn room! 🐼
What type of lights are you running (MH,HPS,T5,LED)? How much are you looking to spend? And then what is your skill level with construction?
If you can define those parameters I can help you pick the best one. All of them have their pros and cons
If you add finished space to your home I say go for framed out and sheet rock with flat white paint. Make sure you tyvek or poly the walls and ceiling first your you will have constant humidity issues. Floor needs to be sealed you there is constant dust when swept or walked on as well as moisture. Then a roll of vinyl flooring glued down and you have added equity to your home! Now your options are endless and your workspace is not your limiting factor. The critical issue, moisture control!
Sheetrock has a much higher insulating ability than I expected, which presented some cooling issues for my setup, where I want to keep things at ambient temperature.
If I wasn’t in a shared basement (in a state that requires me to secure my grow), I would use 2×3’s and Panda if I wanted a little passive heating/cooling, or 2×3’s and rigid foam board insulation (the 4×8 styrofoam sheets) if I wanted insulation. The Reflectix has ventilation holes in it, making it hard to control air pressure/odor.
Either way, be aware there is some controversy regarding whether to allow your pots/reservoir to touch the ground in a concrete basement. Old wisdom says the cold temperatures from the geothermal effect will cool the plants too much, while some now say that keeping your root zone cool helps plants better weather high ambient air temperature and related stressors.
thanks for the replies guys, i currently have a 600W and 400W ballasts and this will be a permanent room. Cost isnt a huge factor and i have some skill with construction. The perimeter of the room is finished/painted drywall and the ceiling is open. i want this to be a perpetual grow with separate flower/veg rooms. Thanks for making the points on moisture control i hadnt given that much thought.
I used Panda film in a thrown together frame and wished i had gone with a traditionally framed and drywalled room. It’s just harder to set up my room without stable walls.
Next time I’ll do sheets of plywood with drywall over it so i can secure heavy things to the wall in any location.
I would put down a coat of white masonry paint on a concrete grow floor because it’s going to look awesome.
