Hello to all my peps! I just got a new Mars hydro ts 3000 with a dimmer control, what are the best settings. The use guide says to veg at 18-24in, flower 12-18in. Is that at 100% dimmer turned up? Can I veg at 12-18in on 50% would be the same? Any pointers would be great thanks homies.

15.5″ is about the perfect height for that light (once dealing with a teen) in a 3×3 tent. Start off a 4 node plant at about 30% – see how she reacts. At 15.5″, you just bump it up as the plant grows reaching 90% by week 7 flower – I found that to be very effective.
750-900 µmols/m2 is a good rule of thumb for a full flowering cannabis plant so start there.
The site says at 100% power at 24” above canopy you get a 940 par reading, 1240 at 18” and 2200 at 12”, so disregard the last two, you will never run those lights at full strength at 12 or 18 so throw that option out the window, but use those charts to do your math, its pretty simple.
Lets say starting out, just run the lights at 40-50% and stick with the 24” up. Take the chart for 24” and that par of 940 and divide it by 10 which equals 94. So for every 10% on your dimmer you go up, you are adding about 94 par so if you want to be around 400 par run it at 40%, 500 par run it at 50% etc…. this making sense yet?
Par Ratings for different stages of growth;
100-200 seedling / clone
200-400 early veg
400-600 late veg early flower
600-800 mid flower
900+/- Late flower
Not an exact science but unless you have the instrument to measure par this is what we have to do.
Stick with the above and you will grow some bud.
I have not run MARS but know they get a little hot from a buddy’s grow so that’s why I would aim for 24” off canopy and just adjust the dimmer approporiatly.

also just one more comment, those par readings are dead center and diminish as you increase your footprint so 940 dead center will give you much less par at the outskirts of your light, its all touch and go and learning. It comes with time but stick with it.
Excellent posts!
I’ll add that the closer to the canopy you go with your light, the less PAR you will have on the corners. With a light a little higher, you get a more even spread from center to corner.
i would stay at 18″ i moved from 18″ down to 12″ in late flower with my spider farmer sp2000 x2 so i am sticking @100%-power @18″-height
Thanks my brothers and sisters for the great info and tips!!
