Hey man, luv the shows folks, like 2nd grow ever, question for you, I have a love hate relationship with putting in a trellis but I think I need to start staking or trellis for opening my plants up and getting ready for flower switch. I hear everyone does this in 2nd or 3rd week of flower, but part of the training seems better to do it now, I’ve already got these girls stripped on the bottom, topped several times, LST’d & HST’d, I’ve got 4-GG4 4-skittlz. 4-Bruce Banner and 4- chemdog4 on the go in coco using Remo nutes, silicate, hygrozyme, and recharge of course, the environment is good, 80 degrees, 60-65% humidity. Am I rushing this process or just do what feels good? The girls are so healthy, they respond well to everything.
Awesome looking grow and room. Nice clean and green. If I were you I would stake them. I have always filled my tent with a trellis and then absolutely hate having to crawl under it to water and not being able to move my plants to get better light to all parts of them. I like my bud structure better when I stake but I am no expert for sure.
Also check out plant yoyos. I swore to myself I would keep them manageable this time, hoping to get my plants to look just like yours. Then use bamboo stakes and the plant yoyos. They are actually really cool I got a 15 pack for around 20 bucks I think they aren’t high. Each one has 2 separate hooks for your plants that extent separately you can hang them easily as well. Only thing I worry about is them getting in the way of the lights.
That said you could probably wait a bit. See which limbs get heavy first and need the support.
Barely burnin, I think your right, I’m going wait for a couple weeks yet before I get to staking these ladies.
I appreciate your chime in.

Funny you mention yo-yos, I just received like 50 of them, never used them before but everybody’s doing it, lol.
Thanks man
Ok, your clean enough to be allowed in my garden. I am a double scrogger from birth but I bet I would end up staking in there also. Sometimes in my outdoor I end up using some kind of fencing or tomato ring to simply contain a plant .so when I move around I don’t get caught up on branches. Plan for big buds weighing the branches down. That’s always the plan even if it don’t happen lol looks great!
Hey Sunny, thanks man.
Ya cleanliness is so crucial, it’s all about avoiding this dam pests, I only had fungus gnats on my first grow, and I hated it, so I’m using optic Foliar with transport and Neem oil, Rosemary & peppermint oil on a regular basis as my preventive and yellow sticky traps.
I did think about cages but kinda thought it would limit me a bit. I have built rolling trays that can be moved easy enough, I’m going to stake.and have these girls 100%mobile. Appreciate your thoughts.
I am allllllll over the essentials oils! Smells like a sewer to the bugs and the killing power of poison ! Guess who has two thumbs and no bugs… this bitch
Staking is more work but allows for mobility and access to plants. Trellis gives you something to aim for (filling each hole). You could try to make an aisle and put up two nets one on each side. Both allow for plant support, even canopy coverage and opening up. Like mentioned from sunny some folks will use a second net to support large colas during the flowering stretch.
Hey Coolin.
I think that’s a good thing to be mobile and staked, that’s what I’m going to try, I do have 4 good quality mammoth nets, but If things get carried away, I’ll throw them up.

Garden looks great. You don’t need to stake or trellis them. They can support their own weight until there are fat buds weighing then down. So, you can open the canopy by tying and just drop 1 net around week 5 to keep them upright for the finish. This sounds like a good strategy for you. Shorter plants might not need much support if any. They’ll grow thicker branches if they have weight to support.
Thanks Coach, truth be told I really don’t know what to expect as things progress, the only thing I know is I want craft cannabis when I’m done, I have a lot of neighbours and friends that I want to give them quality cannabis.
Ya my last grow was like solid short Indica plants, the tallest was like 20” and the stocks where as big as a bic lighter.
That’s also what I was thinking about the net, if I need it use it.
I think I’m on the right track Coach, appreciate your comment. You guys are awesome.
Also, seems like the reason people don’t like to srog is because they pigeon hole themselves with plant mobility and working space by putting the nets down too early and using then to train. I get my best yeild by several ounces by scrogging. Here’s a tip that will make scrogging easier….unless you want to move your plants when they’re flowering, drop the trellis the week you flip and the 2nd net after stretch to support to potential weight. You get the best of both worlds this way. Simply train by tying and topping in veg. Plants bush out themselves when the lower branches stretch out for light, you can easily build a full, even canopy with any stakes or nets.
*Without stakes or nets
Coach, after thinking about what your saying, I’m heading into the grow, I going to finish tying these girls down now and get that canopy nice and full and even.
I did in fact use the net for training my last grow, didn’t work for me very well, more of a pain in my ass.
Your making me think man, awesome.
I forgot to leave a Canadian comment
Fucking eh luv it.
I just started staking my plants after a few years of doing double trellis and the mobility is fantastic plus the the ease of getting the plants/bud out at the end is very nice.Very nice looking grow over all! Canada rep!
Hey Natural, Thanks Brother. Ya the last grow I ended up taking my nets down, I couldn’t really take care of them, It was a 5×5 grow,
Your 100% right on the mobility, I love that ability, it feels better.
Appreciate your chime in man.
Stakes because of the marshmallows.
